Slow Burn
Plain Dirty Blues album “Slow Burn” selected as top (#2) Canadian blues/rock album for 2013 by the Blues Underground Network:
Founded in 2005, The Plain Dirty Blues Band have been featured at the PEI Jazz and Blues festival, the East Coast Music Awards, Music PEI awards showcase, and Nova Scotia’s Smokin Blues Fest. The band also represented PEI in the East Coast Blues Society’s 2013 “Maritimes to Memphis” International Blues Competition.
The band's debut album "Five Dollar Cover" (released January 2010) was nominated for the 2011 Music PEI Blues Recording of the Year and received critical acclaim in the East Coast Blues Society's newsletter. Their long awaited second album "Slow Burn", featuring all original material ,was released in 2013, and has made the 2013 International Songwriting Contest semi finals (“Mailman Blues”), and made the #2 spot on the 2013 Blues Underground Network’s top Canadian blues/rock albums.
Plain Dirty Blues is composed of Simon Moore (kit) , Marc Beland (bass) , Doug Burton (lead guitar, vocals) and Steve Guy (sax). Each of the members has extensive experience on the music scene. However, it was the love of blues that brought them together to form the Plain Dirty Blues Band. With one foot firm on the blues side of music they reach into the rock side as well, the result being an original and intense brand of blues/rock which never fails to deliver the goods.
Best known for their electrically charged live performances, their music is a mix of original and interpretive works influenced by the likes of Buddy Guy, Freddie King, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and Hendrix to name a few. PDB hosts a blues jam every last Saturday of the month at Baba's Lounge in Charlottetown, PEI.
